Tasks and employment status, including the fixed term and conditions for extension, are set out in Sect. 76 and 77 of the Saxon higher education act (Sächsisches Hochschulgesetz, SächsHSG). A temporary civil service position is possible if the requirements under civil service law are met. The provisions of the German act on fixed-term employment contracts in academia (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, WissZeitVG) apply to the employment relationship.

Your tasks

  • research in the field of theoretical philosophy with the aim of obtaining a habilitation
  • teaching in philosophy (4 teaching hours per week)
  • supervision of students’ dissertations and final theses (bachelor’s, master’s, and teaching degree programmes)
  • participation in academic self-governance

We are looking for

  • academic degree and completed doctorate in philosophy with excellent quality
  • research focus in the field of theoretical philosophy
  • very good written and spoken English (level B2)
  • teaching experience in the field of theoretical philosophy
